Character Concept: Eva & Mable
For this project, I created two original pixel art characters that could be used as assets in a future game project. The untitled project is meant to be a an action-platformer and metroidvania. Both characters would serve as protagonists, exploring the same side-scrolling world but with unique movesets. Mable is meant to have a more traditional moveset, with close range physical attacks and parkour inspired movement abilities. Eva specializes in ranged attacks and uses more advanced movement tech in the form of spell casting.
While designing these characters, I opted for a more subtle outline as opposed to a traditional black outline to allow for greater surface area on each body part in the characters’ designs. To emphasize this further, the outline color was de-saturated to appear less vibrant and blend more in the overall image, while still offering clean separation between body parts.

Name: Eva Dulace
Age: 23
Height: 5' 7"
Backstory: Eva Dulace, age 23, is one of the game's two protagonists. Known for her optimistic and artistically dreamlike way of viewing the world, she has gained the nickname "The Sweet Dreamer."
Personality: While generally shy and reserved, Eva still works hard to put a smile on the face of everyone she meets. Her gentle demeanor and creative energy make for an exuberant personality beneath her quiet exterior. When talking about the things or people she loves, she gets fired up and her naïve, childlike nature truly shines.
Name: Mable Stormbrook
Age: 24
Height: 5' 8"
Backstory: Mable Stormbrook, age 24, is one of the game's two protagonists. Her blend of thoughtful introspection and commanding authority has earned her the nickname "The Silent Tempest."
Personality: Despite her tough, alternative exterior, Mable is actually quite sweet and gentle. She also sports a sassy attitude and is highly protective of those she cares about.
